SHAJIEE RESIDENCE
WOODLAND HILLS, CA
The lot sits above the valley floor with a spectacular 180-degree panorama of Woodland Hills and the Santa Susana Mountains. A virtual “acropolis,” the site provides opportunities to carve out, or frame, particular views as images, thereby bringing them into closer relief.
Responding to the client’s desire to simultaneously entertain guests while accommodating the family’s need for privacy, the program finds expression as three pavilions—entertainment, housing quarters and garage.
The fenestration and zinc cladding carve away simple volumes, responding to specific perspectives and screening needs. Glass walls in the entertainment pavilion roll completely open so guests may spill out to the fire pit, infinity pool, and panoramic views of the city.
