FIRST STATE BANK
SEDONA, AZ
Prior to the ubiquitous faux “Santa Fe Pueblo” style, that now dominates construction in Sedona, several examples of Arizona’s Territorial Style and “Main Street” retail buildings graced the City.
The scale and detailing of the masonry in this project is an attempt to pay homage to that architecture, while, at the same time, accommodating the needs of a contemporary bank and retail tenants.
A xeriscape pocket park continues the “parkway” setback along the street, while simultaneously providing an amenity for employees of the complex. Formal entries for the bank and retail structure respond architecturally to each other, with the parking lot serving as buffer space.
